Larry Trautman – Thurs Nov 11, 2021

Lawrence (Larry) Neal Trautman, 72, of Jamestown, ND passed away Nov 11, 2021, at his daughter’s home in West Fargo, ND after a short battle with ALS.

Larry Neal Trautman, son of Gene and Ruth (Norton) Trautman was born January 5, 1949, in Jamestown, ND. He grew up in Jamestown until the 1st grade and then moved to Cooperstown. He attended school and graduated from Cooperstown Public School. After graduation, Larry enrolled in the Navy. He was united in marriage to Corinne (Cory) Dahl on December 27, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND. They lived in Cooperstown for three years where he worked with his father at their photography business. They then moved to Jamestown, ND where Larry worked at Western Gear which later changed to Goodrich for 36 years, retiring in 2011.

Larry entered the Navy in 1968 and was stationed in Lamoure, CA. He was deployed during the Vietnam war and traveled the world on several different aircraft carriers including the USS Enterprise, USS America, and USS Constellation as an electronics technician. After his tour to Vietnam, he ended his career in the Navy in 1971. He made many friends during his time in the Navy that lasted through his lifetime.

Larry was a kind, generous and calm man. He enjoyed fishing in his boat or ice fishing whenever he got the chance. He and his wife, Cory, also loved spending time together with their family. He took pleasure in spending time with his daughter, watching his grandson’s soccer games, and traveling to Arizona to see his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. He liked helping his son with projects during these trips and enjoyed tinkering around his and his daughter’s homes as well. Larry will be forever loved and missed.

He is survived by his wife Cory their dog Ziggy, his children, Trevor (Michelle) Trautman of Phoenix, AZ and Tracy Entzi of West Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Jarin (20) and Carson (16) Entzi and Jenna Trautman (15). He is also survived by his sister Jan (Sheridan) Erickson and his brother David (Truley) Trautman and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Gene Trautman; parents-in-law, Vi and Duane Dahl; and sister-in-law, Carol Paulsen.

Larry’s Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, 2pm at Atonement Lutheran Church 1009 12 Ave NE in Jamestown, ND. It will also be live streamed through the church’s Facebook live feed.
