Jamestown (CSi) The comprehensive plans for Bison World, the new theme park on state owned land near Jamestown, were presented on Wednesday by Apogee Attractions founder, Robert McTyre, former Wald Disney Attractions, executive. The Master Plan has been presented to local, and state elected officials.
The final plans are the culmination of a 22 months planning process with Apogee Attractions, one of the nation’s leading theme park designers.
Apogee Attractions has agreed to serve at the developer of Bison World and operator of the facility upon investment for the legacy fund
The Bison World Fund, a 501 © (3) corporation was formed to structure and investment and management agreement, utilizing a new North Dakota law, as the unique project directs nearly all of the financial returns back to the state for enhancing its land adjacent to I-94. The Bison World Fund will be used to structure an investment from the state’s $8.3 billion legacy fund.
The five year projected returns show an average annual return to the state of between $6.8 and $7.8 million or 11 percent, exceeding the current average performance of the legacy fund.
Bison World Fund President Alex Schweitzer said needed now is the State investment Board to quickly develop a process to review this opportunity under the new in-state investing law. The plans are ready to be executed immediately upon securing funding.
Bidding key elements of the park, is then followed by a spring of 2022 ground breaking.
At the presentation, Bob McTyre with a power point, outlined the many features of Bison World, and listed the objectives of the “Cultural Attraction.” He explained that Bison World is partnering with other attractions as a “Gateway for other North Dakota tourist destinations.” He pointed out the economic value of Bison World such as hotels and local businesses. He added that the proximity of I-94 is “Like Gold,” to bring visitors, and many will plan extended stays, in Jamestown.
He presented photos of concept drawings of what Bison World will look like in detail with the numerous features.
Those included:
A Gift Shop
Tourism Center
A Bison Fountain to great visitors just inside the entrance
Zip Lines, to the Safari Center, that will provide a safari with vehicles
An Areal Skyway feature
An amphitheater with ample festival seating, for stage shows and concerts
A Children’s Zone with interactive Bison displays
A Bison themed carousel
The Bison Mall
The Tatanka Lodge Motel
The North American Bison Center, with the Discovery Theater to tell the story of the American Bison.
McTyre said that Native American paintings depicted the importance of the American Bison, being sacred to their culture will be on display. He added that a Native American person will be sought to tell the story.
Also during the presentation, Developer, Brian Lunde said the elements have to come together for a successful Cultural Attraction, including a pre-existing Bison Herd, the National Buffalo Museum and “Dakota Thunder,” statue which will be further rehabbed, and lighted for night viewing. He also pointed out the proximity to I-94 and free state owned land. He added that if approved, the Legacy Fund dollars are generated by oil and gas extraction taxes, and no local tax dollars will be needed.
He said Bison World will bring tourism “To another Level.”
JSDC CEO Connie Ova, also a Bison Fund, Board Member, said all the ground work has been completed, required to make this project a great investment for the people of North Dakota, adding that the plans are done, the financial analysis is completed, the operator is in place and the investment Structure has been formed. She pointed out that the JSDC Board of Directors, earlier this year authorized up to $600,00 to complete the planning process for this state investment. She said North Dakota Tourism has contributed $400,000 in funding.
The presentation was recorded by CSi Cable 10 The Replay Channel, with showing dates and times to be announced.

Jamestown (JRMC) — Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced Debbie Clemens as its most recent Legend Award recipient.
The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee. The Legend Award recognizes employees who exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those they serve.
JRMC Nursing Unit Manager, Emily Woodley, nominated Clemens, a JRMC material services technician, because of her willingness to be THE difference by helping Family BirthPlace when the department needed an extra hand.
Woodley said, “She came back to Family BirthPlace and offered to rock the not-so-happy newborn I had in my arms so I could complete paperwork for a patient transfer. Debbie did not complain once that the newborn wouldn’t settle. She just kept holding her until the nurses were able to take back over.”
JRMC’s 350 employees cast anonymous votes to select each Legend Award winner.
The purpose of the Legend Award is to inspire, motivate and capture the moments that define JRMC. The goal is to help employees and volunteers connect to the sense of purpose that brought them to the organization. This award is for employees who’ve made extreme efforts to benefit their patients and colleagues.
JRMC President & CEO, Mike Delfs says, “The nominations inspire staff members to continually be the best, exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Once nominated, both JRMC administration and employees vote on their favorite nominees and their stories.
Woodley added, “What an amazing person to give of her own time and step up to do what she could so others could do what needed to be done.”
The Legend Award first began in 2012. Since then, more than 35 individuals have been named Legends and more than 110 employees were nominated.

KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a woman crossing a road to help a disabled motorist was struck and killed near Killdeer. The patrol says the 73-year-old Killdeer woman had pulled over on the shoulder of the highway and was walking across the road to assist a driver who had a flat tire. Authorities say a 58-year-old Berthold man who was driving down the highway wasn’t able to avoid the victim and struck her with his pickup. The woman died at the scene. The crash happened about 4:30 pm Wednesday. The patrol says it was dark and cloudy at the time.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — The trial continues for a Williston man accused of running over several neighbors with his truck, killing one of them. Steven Rademacher is charged with murder, attempted murder and terrorizing in a July 2019 confrontation with some neighbors. Prosecutors say Rademacher sped past the neighbors who urged him to slow down. According to court records, Rademacher turned his truck around and headed toward the neighbors, striking several, including Dyson Bastain who was killed. Authorities say Rademacher drove away after the people were hit and was arrested a short time later. Law enforcement witnesses dominated Tuesday’s testimony. Jurors were shown video and pictures from the crime scene.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A legal battle is headed to North Dakota’s Supreme Court over access to thousands of documents related to the developer of the Dakota Access Pipeline and the company that oversaw security during construction. Pipeline developer Energy Transfer and a subsidiary sued the state board that regulates security firms, seeking the return of some 16,000 documents. The company argues the records could present a security risk if released publicly. Separately, litigation has arisen over release of the documents to the media. An online news organization sued North Dakota last year, seeking to obtain the documents, citing the state’s open records law.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Department of Health says it would not add anxiety disorders as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana, unlike neighboring North Dakota and three other states. State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says there’s not enough scientific evidence of benefits of medical cannabis use when compared to the possibility of “unintended consequences.” No new conditions were added to the existing list of 17 qualifying health issues. North Dakota added anxiety disorder in 2019, when it immediately became the most commonly cited condition. Minnesota did agree to add infused edibles in the form of gummies and chews to a list of approved products that includes pills, vapor oil, liquids, topicals, powdered mixtures, and orally dissolvable medicines like lozenges.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A new monthly survey of business leaders in nine Midwest and Plains states shows the region’s economy remains healthy, and overall confidence in the economy over the next six months has improved. But about half of supply managers surveyed expect supply chain disruptions to get worse for the first six months of 2022. Firms reported that transportation issues such as trucking, air and rail delays were the greatest factors accounting for supply chain disruptions. The overall index for November of the Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions released Wednesday fell to 60.2 from October’s 65.2. Any score above 50 on the survey’s indexes suggests growth. The monthly survey covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.

Officials at NBC Universal have announced the NBC Sports Network – as a stand alone channel – will go dark nationwide on Dec 31, 2021. The announcement indicates the sports programming will shift to USA Network, CNBC, and other NBC Universal channels.
This was a national decision, not that of local cable distributors.
NBC Sports was viewed on CSi Channel 63 and HD 125.
In a similar but unrelated announcement, ESPN announced that they are shutting down the channel ESPN Classic. In October, CSi had transitioned from ESPN Classic to ACC Network per the pending shut off of Classic and contractual requirements of ESPN.
NBA..
— Montrezl Harrell scored 27 points and Bradley Beal added 19 to lift the Washington Wizards to a 115-107 victory over Minnesota. Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns left the game with 2:14 remaining after injuring himself on a dunk. Towns scored only two of his 34 points in the final period — and that was when he got free along the baseline for a dunk. After slamming the ball through, his momentum caused his body to fall horizontally and he appeared to land on his tailbone. Minnesota lost for just the second time in nine games.
UNDATED (AP) — Jayson Tatum scored 26 points with a career-high 16 rebounds, shaking off a hard fourth-quarter fall to lead the Boston Celtics to a 88-87 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. It was their first game this season against their longtime Eastern Conference rivals and former coach Doc Rivers.

Gordon scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had three thunderous dunks.

North Carolina led 29-27 at the half but shot 58% after the break to turn the game into a surprising rout. Dawson Garcia added 14 points while Armando Bacot had 11 points and 14 rebounds. UNC took advantage while Dickinson sat for more than 10 minutes.

And they indicated they may go even further to overturn the nationwide Roe v. Wade right that has existed for nearly 50 years. The Mississippi law is much more restrictive than the landmark Roe v. Wade court ruling of 1973. Upholding the Mississippi law would undermine Roe. A decision is expected next June

Biden on Thursday is unveiling a winter plan to combat the coronavirus and its omicron variant with enhanced availability of shots and vaccines but without major new restrictions. Biden’s administration says it’s making 50 million COVID-19 tests free for older people and other vulnerable groups for pickup at senior centers and community sites.

Approval by the European Medicines Agency would add another vaccine to the EU’s armory against COVID-19 as the bloc is ramping up administering booster shots and some countries prepare preparing to deliver shots of Pfizer’s vaccine to children ages 5 to 11. Last month, the EU’s executive commission approved a contract with Valneva for member states to buy almost 27 million doses in 2022.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal government could be heading for a temporary shutdown. Republicans in Congress are poised to stall a must-pass funding bill as they force a debate on rolling back the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates for some workers. Conservative Republicans in the House and Senate want to take a hardline stand against the mandated vaccinations. Delays could cause a shutdown Friday that lasts through the weekend. The White House is confident Congress will approve funding to keep the government running.
