Jametown  (JPD) Jamestown Police alerts residents of  a new scam using the name of one of their officers is currently circulating.

The police report states “It has been brought to our attention that someone is making phone calls and identifying himself as a member of the Jamestown Police Sex Crimes Unit and is using the name of an actual police officer. The individual is telling the people he calls that they need to pay $2000 or a warrant for their arrest will be issued.”

Police say this is a scam and if you receive a similar call like this to contact the law enforcement agency where you live.
