MADISON, S.D.  (NSAA)  Valley City State University senior guard Jalen Addison is the NSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Addison earned the North Star Athletic Association weekly honor after averaging 21 points and five rebounds per game this past week during a pair of Viking wins.

Jalen Addison – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’2″ – Senior – guard – Milwaukee, Wis. – Addison averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game as (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) won a pair of home games.  He scored 22 points on his 9-of-16 field goals, including 4-of-9 3-points in fueling the Vikings to a 107-63 victory over Maine-Fort Kent.  He scored all of 20 of his points in the first half (8-of-12 field goals and 4-of-7 3-pointers) in VCSU’s 104-52 victory over Oak Hills (Minn.), only playing 13 minutes in the game.  For the week, Addison totaled 42 points on his 17-of-28 field goals (60.7 percent) and drained 8-of-16 3-pointers (50 percent).  He pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out four assists for the week.

Most North Star Athletic members are idle last week as they prepared for the fall academic final examinations.  Presentation (S.D.) remained at 8-5 overall record and Waldorf (Iowa) at 3-7 overall record.

Valley City State (N.D.), receiving votes in the latest NAIA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, closed out the 2021 portion of the schedule with a pair of home victories.  The Vikings cruised past Maine-Fort Kent 107-63 on Dec. 8 and Oak Hills (Minn.) 104-52 on Dec. 12.  VCSU is 10-4 overall record on the season.

Mayville State (N.D.) lifted their overall record to 6-3 after a 94-49 victory over Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Dec. 6 and a 95-44 home rout over Maine-Fort Kent on Dec. 9.

Bellevue (Neb.) fell short in an overtime road contest at Iowa Wesleyan by the score of 80-71.  The Bruins dropped their overall record to 7-6.

Viterbo (Wis.) split a pair of games during the week.  The V-Hawks lost to Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 89-70 on Dec. 8.  VU returned home and earned an 88-69 victory over Mount Mercy (Iowa) on Dec. 10.  Viterbo is 5-6 overall record.

Dakota State (S.D.) fell short at home to No. 10 ranked Jamestown (N.D.) 81-71 on Dec. 7.  The Trojans are 3-10 overall record.

Dickinson State (N.D.) could not get their first win of the season last weekend at home.  The Blue Hawks dropped a 71-64 overtime thriller to (RV) Montana Tech on Dec. 11.  DiSU lost an 86-64 contest to Montana State-Northern on Dec. 12.  Dickinson State is 0-10 overall record.
