drifting snow. Snow totals are forecast to range from less than

inches in spots around the Turtle Mountains. The more major
cities of Williston, Minot, Bismarck and Jamestown should end up
with an inch or two.
Gusty winds are forecast to reach near 35 mph north and east, to
as high as 45 mph southwest. This will cause reduced visibility in
blowing snow, and drifting snow, especially in areas that get the

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Former U.S attorney and lieutenant governor Drew Wrigley has launched a bid for North Dakota attorney general. The Republican said Thursday that he aims to fill the seat held by Wayne Stenehjem, who will not seek reelection next year. The 56-year-old Wrigley was U.S. attorney from 2001 to 2009, and again from 2019 to 2021. He was lieutenant governor from 2010 to 2016 under former GOP Gov. Jack Dalrymple. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Regulators in North Dakota have signed off on a new plan to tear down a wind farm. The Bismarck Tribune reported Wednesday that the Public Service Commission voted 2-1 to approve a new plan to remove 61 turbines on the North Dakota side of the Tatanka Wind Farm. The farm straddles the border between North Dakota and South Dakota. Tatanka wants to make cuts in the turbine towers and drag them to the ground with a cable. The company originally wanted to use a crawler crane to take down the structures, but says the cable method would cost about $5.5 million less. Commissioner Randy Christmann cast the dissenting vote, saying he was worried about environmental damage when the turbines come down.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Police in Bismarck have arrested a woman wanted for a homicide in a Detroit suburb. Ashinay Horton-Starks, 23, is wanted for allegedly killing a woman in Warren, Michigan in June. Authorities there had offered a reward for her arrest, the Bismark Tribune reported. The Bismarck Police Department made the arrest, but details of how they found her were not immediately available. It was not clear whether Horton-Starks had legal representation and she has not had a bail hearing.

NFL..
— Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes, A.J. Dillon ran for two more scores and the Green Bay Packers routed the Minnesota Vikings 37-10 to wrap up the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed. Green Bay’s victory, coupled with Philadelphia’s 20-16 triumph at Washington, dropped the Vikings from postseason contention and gave the Eagles a playoff berth. The Packers are the lone NFL team with an unbeaten home record and have a chance to reach the Super Bowl without leaving Lambeau Field, where the temperature was 11 degrees just before kickoff.
— Daniel Carlson kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired to give the Raiders a 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Derek Carr found Hunter Renfrow for 24 yards on third-and-10 in the final minute, setting the stage for Carlson’s third field goal of the game. Las Vegas could wrap up a playoff spot if they beat the Chargers next weekend.
— The Los Angeles Chargers moved back into a playoff spot in the AFC with a 34-13 victory over the Denver Broncos. Justin Herbert threw for two touchdowns, while Andre Roberts returned a kickoff 101 yards for a score for L.A. While they are in the final wild-card spot now, Los Angeles will need to beat Las Vegas next week to secure a postseason berth.
— Robert Quinn broke Hall of Famer Richard Dent’s franchise single-season record with his 18th sack, and the Chicago Bears pounded the New York Giants 29-3. Trevis Gipson added a career-high two sacks for the Bears.
— Rookie Trey Lance overcame a first-half interception to throw two touchdown passes in the second half, and the San Francisco 49ers closed in on a playoff berth with a 23-7 victory over the Houston Texans. Lance got the start for the 49ers with Jimmy Garoppolo sidelined by a thumb injury. The Niners can clinch the playoffs with a loss by New Orleans or a win next week against the Rams.
UNDATED (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs’ eight-game winning streak is over and they’ve lost the pole position in the AFC playoff race with their 34-31 loss at Cincinnati.

Ryan Tannehill threw two touchdown passes as the Tennessee Titans clinched their second straight AFC South title, snapping the Miami Dolphins’ seven-game winning streak.

The victory pushed the Rams to the cusp of their second straight NFC West title.
— Antonio Brown was kicked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a bizarre, shirtless exit from the field before Tom Brady coolly led the Bucs on a 93-yard drive in the final minutes for a 28-24 victory over the New York Jets. He appeared animated while talking to teammate Mike Evans when he stripped off from the waist up, tossing his gloves and T-shirt into the stands.

Jalen Hurts scrambled out of trouble while showing no ill effects from a recent ankle injury, running six times for 45 yards. Boston Scott rushed for two touchdowns. Rodney McLeod picked off Taylor Heinicke in the end zone with 24 seconds remaining to seal it.
— Alvin Kamara turned a short pass into New Orleans’ first touchdown in more than 11 quarters, and the Saints beat the Carolina Panthers 18-10. Taysom Hill passed for 222 yards and led the Saints in rushing with just 45.
— Kyler Murray threw two touchdown passes to Antoine Wesley and the Arizona Cardinals held on to beat the Dallas Cowboys 25-22 in a matchup of playoff-bound teams. The outcome didn’t do much to change the races for the NFC’s No. 1 seed or the NFC West. But the Cardinals ended a three-game skid a week after backing into the postseason while stopping the NFC East champion’s four-game winning streak.
— The Seattle Seahawks routed the Detroit Lions 51-29. Rashaad Penny rushed for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns, while Russell Wilson threw three of his four TD passes to DK Metcalf.

In world and national news…
(AP) President Joe Biden will meet virtually with independent farmers and ranchers. Biden on Monday is discussing initiatives with them to reduce food prices by increasing competition within the meat industry. The White House event is part of a broader effort to show the administration is trying to combat inflation. Consumer prices in November rose 6.8% over the prior 12 months. That’s a 39-year high. The administration is targeting meat processing plants. The White House says the top four companies control 85% of the beef market. Biden plans to stress the plans to distribute $1 billion from the coronavirus relief package to help independent meat processors expand.
(AP) Wintry weather combined with the pandemic to frustrate air travelers whose return flights home from the holidays were canceled or delayed in the first days of the new year. The tracking service FlightAware said more than 2,600 U.S. flights and more than 4,400 worldwide were grounded Sunday. That followed Saturday’s mass cancellations of more than 2,700 U.S. flights, and more than 4,700 worldwide. Saturday’s single-day U.S. toll of grounded flights was the highest since just before Christmas, when airlines began blaming staffing shortages on increasing COVID-19 infections among crews.
BEIJING (AP) — Asian stock markets are on 2022′s first trading day after Wall Street ended last year with a double-digit gain. Hong Kong retreated while Seoul gained. Markets in Japan, China and Australia were closed. Wall Street’s benchmark S&P 500 index slipped Friday amid lingering worries about the coronavirus’s omicron variant but ended 2021 with an annual gain of 26.9%. Singapore’s government announced its economy grew by 7.2% last year, rebounding from the previous year’s 5.4% contraction. Oil prices rose and U.S. futures also were higher.
LOUISVILLE, Colo. (AP) — Search teams looked for two missing people in the smoldering debris from a massive Colorado wildfire while people who escaped the flames sorted through what was left. Investigators were still trying to determine what caused flames to tear through at least 9.4 square miles, leaving nearly 1,000 homes and other buildings destroyed in suburbs between Denver and Boulder. The inferno broke out Thursday, unusually late in the year following an extremely dry fall and amid a winter nearly devoid of snow. Experts say those conditions, along with high winds, helped the fire spread. Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle says authorities are pursuing a number of tips. The sheriff refused to give details Sunday, including whether he thought the fire was arson.
MONTREAL, Quebec (AP) — Quebec is proceeding with the first of three planned closures of non-essential retail stores as the provincial government tried to curb a new wave of COVID-19 driven by the highly infectious Omicron variant. Hospitals and health-care resources in Quebec and Canada’s remote northern communities are also being stretched as case numbers explode. Quebec Premier Francois Legault announced last week that the bulk of the province’s stores would be closed for the next three Sundays, with the exception of pharmacies, convenience stores and gas stations. Charles Milliard, president of the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce, urged the government to lift the measures as soon as possible.
