Jamestown (JPD) A Montpelier man is in custody following a Jamestown traffic stop Wednesday January 5, 2022,that resulting in a drug seizure.
Assistant Police Chief, Maj. Justin Blinsky reports, at 9:47-a.m., a Jamestown Police Officer attempted to stop a 1999 Dodge Durango in the 700 block of 10th St. SE. The vehicle failed to stop, leading to a pursuit through streets and alleys in the city.
Due to icy conditions and snow drifts, officers briefly lost visual contact of the vehicle. During that time, the driver parked and fled on foot.
Officers located the suspect walking near Gardenette Drive and he was taken into custody. The vehicle was later located in the east alleyway in the 1300 block of 9th Ave. SE.
45 year old Jimmie Dale Cox, was searched and officers found approximately 3.5 ounces of Methamphetamine, approximately $1000 in cash, and other evidence that was seized.
Cox is facing numerous charges including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle; Aggravated Reckless Endangerment; Possession of controlled substance Schedule II with intent to deliver (Methamphetamine); Possession of controlled substance Schedule 1 with intent to deliver (Marijuana); Possession of controlled substance Schedule 1 with intent to deliver (other: Tetrahydrocannabinol); and Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Stutsman County Correction Center awaiting formal charges. Police were assisted by the Stutsman County Drug Task Force.
The incident remains under investigation.
