(CSi) A house located at 120 1st street S in Ypsilanti, was reported by law enforcement on fire Tuesday afternoon in Ypsilanti. The Jamestown Rural Fire Department (JRFD) was call out at 12:11pm. Chief Brian Paulson quoted that the building was engulfed in flames when the JRFD arrived. The only part of the home still standing was the garage.
The JRFD had 28 firefighter on hand, and 9 units. Water used to fight the fire was 53,000 gallons. It took the trucks 19 loads from Jamestown, to reach that amount.
The JRFD worked Six hours over hauling and making sure that nothing re-kindled. A large stack of logs located in the backyard was burning and brought down.
Roads in Ypsilanti were icy and down to 1 lane in the location of the burning house. No one was home at the time of the fire. A neighbor was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for Smoke inhalation.
The fire at this time is under investigation, and there is no determination to the fire at this time. The State Fire Marshal is expected Wednesday morning.
