Hillsboro (NDHP Report)
A Traill County Sheriff’s Deputy was engaged in a traffic stop with a male driver and a female passenger north of Hillsboro near the American Crystal Sugar beet plant on State Highway 200. The deputy began a DUI investigation with the male driver outside of the vehicle. While in the process of the DUI investigation, the female passenger got out of the passenger seat and into the driver seat and took off with the car. The deputy engaged in a pursuit of the female southbound on State Highway 200 toward Hillsboro.
Villarreal-Brusegaard lost control of the vehicle coming into Hillsboro running off the roadway to the east, striking a corner of a house, then a tree, another tree, and lastly another house. The car began to catch fire and the deputy removed the female from the vehicle. The fire was extinguished by the property owner. Villarreal-Brusegaard was transported to Sanford Health Hillsboro Clinic to be treated for her injuries. She was later flown to Sanford Hospital in Fargo to be treated further for her injuries.
