BISMARCK, N.D. – Yesterday, Agtegra Cooperative notified state agencies that a dry Urea fertilizer spill resulted from a vehicle accident in Grant County. The incident caused about 4,000 pounds of fertilizer to enter the Heart River 18 miles southeast of Glen Ullin.
Personnel from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality are inspecting the site and taking water samples. They will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
Federal and state laws require that operators report the spillage of any materials that may pollute water, air or soil. Visit spill.nd.gov for more information about North Dakota’s Unified Spill Reporting System notifications and the public access tool.
