Valley City, ND (VCPD) The Valley City Police report that a bicyclist was struck by a road roller maintenance machine north of Jefferson elementary school in Valley City around 11:18 am on Tuesday June 21.

Police Chief Phil Hatcher reports, the girl, under the age of 12, suffer serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the roller was backing into a driveway when the girl on the sidewalk ran into the equipment. Authorities say a city employee was driving the roller and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

The girl was originally taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City hospital and then rushed to Fargo. Her current condition is unknown.

The road maintenance roller owned by the city of Valley City and was being operated at the time of the accident by city employee. No other details were immediately available.
