Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown Planning Commission Monday (Aug 12, 2013) delayed action on a new plat for the area near the former Job Service building in Southwest Jamestown.

The area, on Second Street Southwest goes to the James River, and is being redeveloped as townhouses by Alan Lindberg as the Lindberg Addition.

The new plat contains townhouses with plans to remodel the former Job Service building into office space.

In June this year the area was rezoned from M-1, manufacturing, to R-3, residential, to accommodates the townhouses.

The use of the current building requires commercial zoning instead of the existing R-3 zoning,.

SRF Consulting, planner, Stephanie Falkers, says the former Job Service Building is presently not zoned correctly, and does not provide enough parking for an office building, however an approved parking variance could be applied for.

Changing part of the addition to commercial requires the City Council action to amend the city’s Growth Management Plan before the changes can be made to the zoning.

Adoption of the plat would follow changes to the zoning
