Charlotte Grohnke, 86, of Jamestown, ND died Wednesday June 15, 2022 at Eventide, Jamestown.
Charlotte was born July 5, 1935 at Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Lieselette (Girr) Sliber. She attended school and graduated from high school.
She and Robert Grohnke were married June 15, 1960 at Kassel, Germany. They returned to Lidgerwood in September of 1961 until 1965 when they moved to Gackle/Cleveland where she was a housewife. She attended college at NDSSS at Wahpeton where she received her nursing degree. They moved to Jamestown in 1976 where she worked the ND State Hospital until 1980. She worked for the Jamestown Hospital Home Health until 1989. They moved to Augusta, GA where she worked at the VA Hospital in Evans, GA until returning to Wimbledon in 1999 Following the death of her husband October 5, 2011, she continued to reside in Wimbledon. She also worked at White Cloud Crafts at the Frontier Village in Jamestown from 2020 until 2022. She entered Eventide at Hi-Acres June 7, 2022.
She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wimbledon, and stayed busy with her sewing.
She is survived by 2 children Anne Hovland, Wimbledon, ND; Chuck (Ghene) Grohnke, Gilbert, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Tanner, Tessa, CJ, Robert, 1 granddaughter-in-law, Allie; 5 great grandchildren, Matesi, Marleigh, Emily, Elleah and Ezra; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Bruce and grandson, Michael.
Memorial Service- 10:30 A.M. Saturday June 25, 2022 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Wimbledon, ND, with Pastor Robert Hill, officiating.
Interment – Prairie View Cemetery at Wimbledon, ND.
Arrangements – Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown.
