NDHPValley City, ND — (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 23, 2013) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the second person killed in a fiery crash involving two semis, the morning of Wednesday August 14, 2013 at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 46 south of Valley City.

He was identified as 64 year old Carl Bjugstad, of Sheldon, North Dakota. The report says he was not wearing a seat belt.

The man driving the other semi was previously identified as 46-year-old Allen Tofsrud of Leeds, North Dakota.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Herzig’s report says an eastbound semi pulling a hopper, operated by Tofsrud missed a stop sign and struck the northbound semi pulling a flat bed trailer, driven by Bjugstad, around 9 a.m.

Witnesses say the fire engulfed both semi tractor trailers vehicles.  Both vehicles were destroyed by the fire. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Herzig says there are precautions on the road where the crash happened, including rumble strips and flashing red and yellow lights.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 16, 2013–  The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Friday afternoon identified one of the persons killed in Wednesday’s crash between two tractor-trailer rigs.  He was identifed as 46 year old Allen Tofsrud, of Leeds, North Dakota.

Tofsrud was driving a semi-truck east on Highway 46, failed to stop at the intersection and struck a northbound semi-truck on Highway 1. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the second man, driving the other rig is being withheld and will be released upon further investigation.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP Aug 14, 2013) – Officials in Barnes County say two people have died in a fiery crash east of Litchville.

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says the accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday (Aug 14, 2013) at the intersection of North Dakota highways 1 and 46.
