UPDATE
Valley City (VCPD) Valley City Police reports that a Valley City man is facing charges stemming from a report that he started a fire in an apartment building on Sunday, July 17 around 12:36pm.
Police Chief Phil Hatcher said for more than an hour, Brandon D. Woehl barricaded himself inside the apartment before entry was made by police. He said officers arrested the man without further incident. No injuries were reported in this incident. The estimated property damage to the apartment was not available.
The Barnes County State’s Attorney’s office report said,Woehl of Valley City was charged with felony Arson and Terrorizing as well as a misdemeanor charge of Disorderly Conduct.

Valley City (Valley News Live) – The Valley City Police Department was called to the 200 Block of 3rd Avenue Southeast after a person had barricaded themself and started a fire inside an apartment Saturday afternoon.
When officers arrived on scene they made contact with the subject, but the person refused to leave the apartment.
Authorities say the building was evacuated as a precaution and a police perimeter was set up around the neighborhood.
Over an hour later, VCPD entered the building and took the person into custody.
The individual was later taken to a Valley City hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Burnt materials were found inside the apartment, but there was no structural fire damage found.
No injuries were reported.
The Barnes County State’s Attorney’s Office will now consider if any charges will be filed.
