Jamestown – (CSi) At Monday’s meeting, the Jamestown Public School Board Greg Allen for his service on the school board, working with with 5 superintendents, dozens of administrators, and hundreds of teachers.
Allen has led the school board as president for 9 of his 28 years. That including serving on and leading numerous other committees.
Allen said the service has been rewarding and believes the current board is well equipped to continue serving the district to the best of its ability.
The school board voted Heidi Larson to serve as President and Dan Tweten as Vice President during board reorganization.
Also at the meeting:
Jamestown Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says an Ad Hoc Committee was formed including himself, along with some board members, and their Food Service director to discuss the existing process for alternative meals.
The Keep Kids Fed Act has not been extended through next year, so families will now be paying for school lunches once again. Dr. Lech added that they are also working to get families signed up for free and reduced lunches.
He added the school board may need to budget for negative balances and strategize around and mitigate as best as possible.
He pointed out that the application for free and reduced lunches is very important to the district as far as funding goes.
The primary work is completed in the major facility projects at the Jamestown Middle School and Gussner Elementary.
