Jamestown (CSi) Water Superintendent Joe Rowell gave an update at this month’s Public Works Committee meting on the lime press.
The filter presses had become inoperable. In the interim, the department was using three lagoons as they reroute the lime byproduct, where capacity could become an issue.
Rowell says there is a possibility of failure at any time.
two options are, rebuilding the machinery at an estimated cost of $711,000 with no guarantee of extended life span or replace the new machines at an estimated cost of $1.63 million.
After hearing the updated information, the committee took no action.
