Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Tourism Board has made the decision to agree to enter into a partnership with the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber board held a similar discussion of establishing a partnership.

Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund submitted his resignation earlier this month, paving the way for the decision, and having Chamber Executive Emily Bivens assuming the Executive Director position.

Under the proposal, tourism and the chamber will keep their separate identities, while being given direction from their own boards moving ahead. Both committees have formed a task force to make decisions concerning office structure, workspace, wages, added employment, and other issues.

The Jamestown Chamber would absorb the one position with Jamestown Tourism while creating a seperate position for marketing for both Chamber and Tourism.

The Tourism Board has moved to close their open hiring process for a New Executive Director with the proposed partnership the priority.
