Jamestown (JFD) — The Jamestown City Fire Department responded Wednesday morning, August 31, about 5-a.m. to the 800 block of First Street West. to a BNSF Railway coal car that was smoldering in Jamestown.

Five units and 23 firefighters responded.

No injuries reported.

The cause is assumed to have been from a bad wheel bearing on the coal car that created heat and rose up.

Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

On Wednesday BNSF was to move the coal car to a workable location not close to live railroad tracks. and extinguish whatever is left.
