Bismarck (CSi) The North Dakota State Tax Department reports an 11.5 percent increase in 2nd quarter taxable sales and purchases, for April, May and Jun 2022.

Taxable sales and purchases were $5.9 billion.

Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus says the increase is due to a combination of factor, including 13 of the 15 major industry sectors reporting taxable sales and purchases increases. He says it was led by the mining and oil extraction sector, reporting a nearly 38 percent increase over the second quarter in 2021.

He says on-line purchasing continues to grow. He says the state is now collecting more than $100 million annually in sales tax from on-line retailers.
