Rural Barnes Co (CSi) Barnes County Rural Fire Chief Tim Lyter, reports that the kitchen fire was called in about 12:45 p.m. Thursday October 6, about five miles south of the I-94 Eckelson exit

Rural Fire Chief Lyter said the structure was fully engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire was contained to the house and was kept from spreading to a propane tank. A tree grove on the north side of the house that slowed the wind from further fanning the flames. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.

The family is homrless after a fire destroyed the structure.

Mutual aid came from crews from the Valley City Rural Fire District and Rural Sanborn Fire Department.
