Sioux Center, Iowa- (UJ)- Three goals in a span of five minutes and 28 seconds put the University of Jamestown men’s soccer team down early in a 4-1 loss at Dordt University Wednesday evening.

Blake Hansen scored in the seventh, 11th, and 12th minutes to stake the Defenders to a 3-0 lead.  Axcele Biteghe (SO/Libreville, Gabon) got the Jimmies on the board in the 28th minute to cut the lead to 3-1. Hansen finished the scoring for Dordt in the 52nd minute with his fourth of the match.

Jamestown outshot the Defenders 24-10 and had a 13-10 edge in shots on goal. 

The Jimmies are back in action a week from Wednesday at Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University.

Women

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (https://www.jimmiepride.com/article/6770UJ) — The University of Jamestown women’s soccer team kept their lead in the GPAC conference standings with a 2-0 win over Dordt University Wednesday evening. 

Jamestown (10-4-1 overall, 9-0 GPAC) maintained their lead over Briar Cliff (Iowa) University (11-1-2 overall, 9-0-1 GPAC).

Kamryn Fiscus (SR/Yakima, Wash.) scored in the 56th minute, taking a pass from Gaby Sarkis (SO/Campbelltown, Sydney, Australia) to give UJ a 1-0 lead. 

In the 78th minute, Sarkis played a ball from Fiscus just past the midfield stripe, dribbled past the Dordt defense, and put the ball in the back of the net for an important insurance goal.

Shots were 17-7 in favor of the Jimmies, who also had a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal. Tea Pence (FR/Hamilton, Ohio) had six saves for UJ.

Jamestown plays its final regular-season home game on Saturday against College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at 1 p.m.
