(UJ) The University of Jamestown women’s hockey team lost a tough game in overtime Friday afternoon, falling 5-4 to McKendree University.
Rylee Gee (SO/Luverne, Minn.) had two goals and an assist, Bethany Wielgosh (FR/Beausejour, MB) had a goal and an assist, and Samantha Beaulac also scored for UJ.
Annika Braun (FR/Altona, MB), Cambree Martens (FR/Morden, MB), and Crystal Wale (JR/Moose Jaw, SK) each recorded an assist.
Makenzie Gibson (FR/Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) stopped 46 shots in goal.
The Jimmies are back at home Saturday against the University of Minnesota at 3:30 p.m.

Jamestown Def Morningside 25-23,25-22,25-10
SIOUX CITY, Iowa- (UJ) – The second-ranked University of Jamestown volleyball team defeated Morningside (Iowa) University Friday evening in straight sets. Scores were 25-23, 25-22, and 25-10.
The first two sets were decided by a combined five points before the Jimmies posted a 15-point victory in the third.
Jamestown outhit Morningside .458 to -.062 in the final frame, making just one error on 24 attempts. UJ finished with an overall hitting percentage of .273 compared to the Mustangs’ .066.
Friday’s win was the 10th straight for the Jimmies against Morningside since joining the GPAC. Jamestown has 12 wins in 15 meetings with the Mustangs dating back to 2007.
Kalli Hegerle (SR/West Fargo, N.D.) led UJ with 15 kills and hit .636 with 16 assists and 17 digs. Anna Holen (SR/LaMoure, N.D.) finished with 12 kills and 14 digs. Paige Oswald (JR/Frazee, Minn.) had a team-high 18 assists and Ellie Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) recorded a match-high 21 digs. Darienne Johnson (JR/Eastpointe, Mich.) had three block assists as part of her four total blocks.
Jamestown (24-2, 11-1 GPAC) plays at No. 7 Northwestern (Iowa) on Saturday with first serve set for 3 p.m.
