(NDGF) A reported siting of a mountain lion in Northwest Jamestown was actually a cat. That, according to Brian Kietzman, wildlife resource biologist with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, The Stutsman County Communications Center received a call about a mountain lion spotted by Highland Home Cemetery. Kietzman said the Game and Fish Department received reports last week of a mountain lion in the area north of the stockyards.

Comments on a post on the Community of Jamestown Supporting Our Local Community Facebook page suggested a mountain lion was in the Jamestown area.

The post stated, “My husband knows what he heard yesterday morning and I don’t care what anyone says. He knows it was a mountain lion. And there were two sets of eyes.”

Kietzman said it would be rare for a mountain lion to be in the Jamestown area. He said the area isn’t what would be considered a habitat for mountain lions.
