Men’s D-1 Hockey

Kole Christensson had a pair of goals and Brandon Weare made 22 saves in his first career shutout as the fifth-ranked University of Jamestown hockey team defeated Northern Illinois University 6-0 Friday evening at Wilson Arena.

Brad Fortin, Logan Berggren, Jordan Popoff, and Keaton Cline also scored as the Jimmies remained unbeaten in the MCH (5-0-0).

Christensson’s fourth of the season came at 4:41 on assists by Carter Johnson and Weare, giving UJ the early lead.

Jamestown broke the game open in the second period, netting four goals on 18 shots. Fortin, Berggren, Popoff, and Christensson again accounted for the Jimmie tallies.

Cline made it 6-0 with his third of the year at 8:15 of the third period.

Johnson, Andrew Clark, and Reid Wilson each had a pair of assists. Fortin, Christensson, Jordon Kromm, and Matthew Poole also were credited with helpers.

The two teams finish their weekend series Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. in Wilson Arena.

BOULDER, Colo. (UJ )– The University of Jamestown women’s hockey team began its three-game Colorado road trip with a 4-2 win over the University of Colorado Friday evening.

Jayden Baker (FR/Regina, SK) had a pair of goals and an assist while Cambree Martens (FR/Morden, MB) and Madison Knudson (SO/Minot, N.D.) also scored for Jamestown.

Lilah Drew (FR/Bolton, ON) made 36 saves in goal, just one off of her season high set back on October 9.

The Jimmies won their first-ever regular-season road game and will look to make it two in a row as they begin a weekend series at Colorado State University on Saturday.
