Jamestown (CSi) A week long challenge between 3 manufacturing facilities in Jamestown resulted in 10,800 items being donated to local food pantries.
The employees of Newman Signs, Cavendish Farms, and Collins Aerospace all stepped up and brought in an abundance of food, health, and baby supplies.
According to statistics on the Feeding America website, over 36,000 people in North Dakota are facing hunger; 14,000 of whom are children. In the past 11 years, Jamestown manufacturing facilities have executed this challenge to help make a difference going into the holidays.
“This annual event is something that our employees look forward to participating in,” comments Chris Rathjen, Director of Operations for Newman Signs. “We know the food pantries could really use this surge of donations going into the holidays. Giving back to the community that we live and work in is important to us,” she adds.
Rebecca Kercher, Interim Human Resource Manager at Cavendish Farms, was very pleased with the end result of the challenge; “Everyone did a fantastic job supporting the community. Job well done!”
