Valley City (NDHP) The Highway Patrol reports that 30-year-old William Smith of Valley City was seriously injured in a crash and transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City and treated for non-life threatening injuries, Thursday afternoon about 2:23-pm.
He was traveling southbound on Barnes County Road 22 ND west of Valley City and lost control of his Mazda approaching Interstate 94 exit 288 and rolled the vehicle multiple times in the Gore area of the Interstate exit.
Smith faces a charge of DUI following this crash. The call for service was issued to first responders around 2:23pm on Thursday, November 17th.

NARRATIVE : A red Mazda 3 was traveling south bound on Barnes County Road 22
approaching the west bound interchange of Interstate 94. Smith was traveling too fast
for the conditions and lost control. The Mazda entered the gore area on the north side
of 94 and went airborne. The Mazda then rolled multiple times before coming to rest
on its roof. Smith was ejected and suffered severe non-life-threatening injuries. He was
transported by Valley City Ambulance to CHI Mercy Health in Valley City to be treated
for injuries sustained in the crash. Smith was charged with driving under the influence
(DUI). The crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
