Fargo (NDHP) – Colonel Brandon Solberg announces the promotion of Trooper Kristjan Helgoe to Sergeant.
Helgoe joined the North Dakota Highway Patrol after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from North Dakota State University and graduating from the UND Lake Region Peace Officer Training Program in Devils Lake. Helgoe was hired by the NDHP in August 2005. Following graduation from the Law Enforcement Training Academy, he was stationed in Lakota, Lisbon, and Fargo serving all three locations as a traffic enforcement trooper.
Helgoe served as a K9 handler from 2014 until May of this year. In 2021, Helgoe was named the NDHP Trooper of the Year.
Sgt. Helgoe was promoted Nov.14, 2022 and serves as a southeast regional sergeant. Colonel Brandon Solberg presented Helgoe with the sergeant chevrons and promotion certificate in a ceremony at the Fargo Regional Law Enforcement Training Center on Dec. 1, 2022.
