Valley City (CSi) Valley City Public Works Director Clint Klemisch said crews on Tuesday began plowing emergency routes and started clearing snow in downtown Valley City at midnight Tuesday. He says crews then started clearing snow in residential areas beginning in the southeast section of the city and working clockwise.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford says Wednesday evening, crews have gone home to get some much needed rest and will be going back out at midnight to finish cleaning downtown and on to the residential areas.

If everything goes as planned, streets should be cleared by noon Thursday, December 15th. Alley’s will be worked on as they are able but there is no guarantee when they will be able to get to them. We will have a garbage crew going out (Thursday) to finish picking up today’s route along with Thursdays route. If your garbage is in the alley and we are not able to get to it, we will make an announcement on what the makeup plan will be.

Valley City reminds the public that vehicles parked on emergency snow routes will be towed if they are not removed while city crews are trying to remove snow along emergency routes.

Some vehicles have already been towed as crew continue to clear snow from city streets. Motorists are asked to stay off city streets on Wednesday, December 14th or until snow has been removed by city crews.

Klemisch said with the amount of snow expected in this storm forecast, snow removal is expected to take multiple days to complete. As of Wednesday morning 12 inches of snow was recorded with few more inches in the forecast.

Garbage pickup was suspended for Wednesday, December 14th in Valley City.
