Jameestown (CSi) The James River Valley Library System will continue to operate both buildings, unless a transition plan is submitted to the City of Jamestown and Stutsman County for approval, indicates a letter interpreting the memorandum of understanding between the two entities to provide joint library services.
Library Board President, Pam Phillips, read the letter to the library board at its meeting on Wednesday, Dec.ember 21.
The Board of Directors received a letter dated December 16, 2022 that was signed by Mayor Dwaine Heinrich and Stutsman County Commission Chairman Mark Klose, which states: “The language of the memorandum of agreement is clear, unless and until a plan for transition is developed and approved both buildings will continue to operate.”
The letter says North Dakota Century Code 40-38-11 authorizes a city and county to jointly provide library services. Lines 139 through 142 of the memorandum of agreement say both buildings will operate as directed by the joint library board.
