National Weather Service Briefing Monday Jan 2 for parts of South Dakota and Minnesota:
A significant winter storm is expected today into Tuesday.
Freezing rain and sleet are expected across NW IA and adjacent portions of SW MN, SE SD and NE Neb. Ice totals are expected to exceed 0.25” in portions of NW IA.
Moderate to heavy snow accumulations are expected across portions of SC and SE SD into SW MN.
Strong north to northeasterly wind gusts in the 30 to 40 mph range could cause significant blowing and drifting of snow.
Travel may be impossible Monday night through Tuesday. Check conditions before heading to or from those areas.
