Valley City (VCPD) – The Valley City Police Department (VCPD) is releasing the following information pursuant to NDCC12.1-32-15, which requires law enforcement agencies to disclose to the public relevant and necessary registration information when a sexual offender registered under this section is a public risk and disclosure of the registration is necessary for public protection.

The following notification attached below concerns 53-year-old Dean Allen Benter of Valley City and an address change to 429 6th Ave. SE in Valley City.

Jamestown (JPD) Jamestown Police is warning residents about a high-risk sex offender who is living in the community.

54 year Dean Allen Benter is living at the Riverside Motel #3 located at 1610 Business Loop East. He drives a dark green 1993 Ford Pickup.

Benter he, is six feet four inches tall, weighing 300 pounds, and has blue eyes and blonde hair.

Benter has been assigned a high-risk assessment by the ND risk level committee, Office of the Attorney General.

Benter was convicted of 6 counts of possession of prohibited materials in 2021 in Barnes County.

Benter is not wanted at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community,

nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords or employers will be turned over for prosecution.

Benter is on parole with ND Parole and Probation.
