ABERDEEN, S.D.– The Jimmie softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Presentation College, losing 8-2 in game one, then taking game two by a score of 10-3.

The Saints led 5-0 as UJ came to bat in the top of the third. Gentrey Turin led off with a double and moved to third on a single by Trinity Gregg. The Jimmies pulled off a double steal as Turin came home on the throw to try to nab Gregg at second. One out later Gregg moved to third on a wild pitch and would score on an error by the Saints’ catcher to make it 5-2.

An Angie Chin single in the fourth would be the last of Jamestown’s three hits in the game. Sunny Halsey took the loss in the circle, giving up five runs (two earned) in 1 1/3 innings.

In game two, UJ broke a 3-3 tie with seven runs in the seventh for a 10-2 victory.

Gracie Fisher‘s one-out single scored Samarah Martinez with the go-ahead run. Megan Neiles added a two-run double and Trinity Gregg hit a bases-clearing triple to help extend the lead. The Jimmies finished with 14 hits in the game, with Gregg going 3-for-5 at the plate. Martinez, Mackenzie LefebvreAlly Battistoni, and Gentrey Turin all had two hits each.
