Jamestown, ND – During the Thursday April 20 meeting, the Jamestown Council approved the reconstruction of 12th Avenue SE. The location of the project is in the 300 to 600 block area of 12th Ave SE.

A new diagonal section of road will be built at 12th Ave SE and 5th street SE and will curve to the 11th Ave and 4th street SE intersection.

A cul-de-sac will be created for the two businesses located along 12th Ave SE to have access.

This construction project will improve traffic and reduce dangerous turns to the Burlington railroad quiet zone. The current westbound U turn to go south on 12th Ave SE will be eliminated. To get to 12th Ave SE, motorists will turn south at 11th Av SE.

$281,000 of Federal Highway Administration Coronavirus Infrastructure Funds will be allocated towards the project. Federal funds share not to exceed 80%, with a max of $1.1 million.

Most of the construction would be completed in the fall, with pavement being laid in the spring of 2024.
