Jamestown, ND – Neil Pfeifer, a former priest in Jamestown, was charge in Logan County in early 2023 for having sexual contact with a woman at St Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon.

It was ruled that probable cause was not enough to move the case forward. Pfeifer still faces two similar charges in Stutsman County.

In a statement Saturday evening by Bishop John Folda, the Catholic Diocese of Fargo is investigating allegations of inappropriate conduct with adults involving Father Neil Pfeifer.

According to the statement, Father Pfeifer has been removed as pastor of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, St. Margaret Mary in Buchanan, and St. Mathias in Windsor, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The statement said that these allegations do not involve minors.

The Diocese is asking for anyone who has specific information or concerns regarding Father Pfeifer’s interactions with themselves or others to contact Monsignor Goering at the Diocese of Fargo (701-356-7945) or the Victim Assistance Coordinator at VictimAssistance@fargodiocese.org.

Bishop Folda is asking for prayer for all involved in the situation.
