Diane Luiken, 88, Jamestown, ND died Thursday morning May 25, 2023 at the Heritage Center in Jamestown.
Diane was born October 25, 1934 at Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Christine (Gross) Odegaard. She grew up on the farm near Cleveland and graduated from Cleveland High School. She then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo.
She and James Luiken were married and made their home in Jamestown. She was a housewife for many years before doing clerical office work at ASC office, KSJB radio and Cal’s Office Supply. Following the death of her husband January 27, 1990 she remained in Jamestown,
Diane and George Spangler were married February 15, 2003 and continued to reside in Jamestown.
Diane was a member of the United Congregational Church, President of the Elkettes and the 1951 Miss Dairy Princess. She enjoyed sewing, crosswords and sudokus. She loved her horse and riding horse while growing up. Diane also enjoyed traveling and cruises, 9 riverboat trips and traveled to New Zeeland and Australia.
She is survived by her husband, George, 2 daughters, Penny Luiken and Debra Luiken, both of Jamestown, ND, 2 grandsons Brandon Charles Berndt and Austin James Berndt, 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Paul (Kay) Odegaard, and 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Paula, Shayne and Shelly.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 nephew, Troy.
