Fargo, ND – During the evening hours of July 17, Fargo NDHP Troopers responded to two separate crashes involving multiple vehicles in the Fargo area
The first crash occurred on Interstate 29 in the southbound lanes near mile marker 60 at approximately 5:45 p.m. and involved three vehicles. A semi, a pickup, and an SUV were involved in the crash. Traffic was congested due to normal late afternoon traffic in this area. All three involved vehicles came to rest in the median. The sequence of events is still under investigation, and the crash remains under investigation by the NDHP at this time. Minor injuries were reported from this crash, with one person being transported to a local hospital.
Shortly after this crash, southbound traffic was backing up further on the interstate. Near mile marker 61 in the southbound lanes, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a pickup pulling a camer and a semi hauling a flatbed were involved in a separate crash, due to backed up traffic from the first crash. This crash also remains under investigation by the NDHP at this time. No injuries were reported from this crash, only property damage to the vehicles involved.
Traffic was impacted for approximately two hours and is still ongoing with partial lane closures in the area while vehicles are removed from the scenes. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and move over upon approaching emergency vehicles working incident scenes.
NDHP Troopers were assisted on scene by the Fargo Fire Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office (who were in the area for ongoing assistance to the Fargo Police Department due to recent events), and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (who are also assisting the Fargo Police Department due to recent events).
