Jamestown, ND: The Hospice Memorial & Tree Planting Service gives the community a chance to remember loved ones.
Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Hospice is hosting the service on Tuesday, August 8 at the JRMC Kornovich Healing Gardens. The memorial is set for 6:30 p.m. JRMC Hospice will also plant a tree in loving memory.
Grief can be an isolating and lonely experience. JRMC Hospice offers this event and other programs so individuals can share their loss.
“This memorial is a celebration of life,” said Maren Radi, Hospice Coordinator for JRMC. “It is an opportunity for bereaved families and the hospice staff to honor loved ones and support each other.”
JRMC Hospice supports bereaved individuals who sometimes struggle because they feel alone. Hospice’s mission is to help individuals and their families through the challenges of life’s last season. The goal is to provide comfort through symptom control and support of the individual and their family.
The memorial helps those families through the mourning process.
“When a loved one passes away, family and friends host a funeral or memorial service. While those ceremonies conclude, the grief does not. We offer this event to demonstrate our support for our patients’ loved ones,” Radi said. “These trees bring peace and comfort to the families left behind. The trees are living monuments symbolizing how life renews itself. Families often return to the sites of these planted trees to remember their loved ones.”
Following the event, family photos are available by request.
The memorial service is free and open to anyone. For more information on this event, call JRMC Hospice at (701) 952-4847.
