Napoleon – A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the recently constructed Wentz Living Center in Napoleon.
Project Developer Bryan Wentz invites everyone to the event, which is open to the public and will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 555 Lake Ave West in Napoleon. All are welcome to come, view and tour the 68,000 square foot complex. A light snack and refreshments will be served.
The new nursing home facility offers 48-single bed rooms with a view, along with an attached 10-unit assisted living apartment complex with underground parking.
Wentz said, “The $18 million project is a gift to the community from the Adam and Bertha Wentz family. We are so grateful for the sacrifices the generations before us endeared to give us a great life. From starting in sod houses east of Napoleon and in one generation they were able to set all of the kids up with businesses in Napoleon, with well over 20 over the years. Some of those with the Wentz name included Hardware, Motel, Clothing, Implement, Chevrolet, Café, Ford, Creamery, Furniture, and Appliance Center and others throughout the years.”
Bryan, who is a grandson of Adam and Bertha, noted many Wentz families residing in Napoleon. “They were all honest, hardworking members of the community. Myron, the son of Adam and Bertha was able to make this possible, to create this beautiful facility in honor of the Wentzs who came before us, makes me proud,” said Bryan.
Construction commenced on the new Wentz Living Center in March of 2021 on a roughly 25-acre tract of land just south of Lake Ave West in Napoleon. “Over the past two years we have been working with the State Health Department and Clem Gross Construction to create a state-of-the-art facility,” said Wentz.
The new structure includes an isolation area of four rooms, where residents who may be suffering with an infectious disease may be housed, while allowing the remaining residents all the amenities of home. Other features offered in the new facility will be purified drinking water, a large chapel and dining room, a salon area, as well as ,cafe/gathering area for visitors to spend time with residents. The new facility will also offer a clinic space with 3 exam rooms, along with areas for physical therapy and massage services. The state-of-the-art facility is considered ‘green’ and efficient with heated flooring and geothermal heating and cooling, and all lighting is LED.
Within a couple weeks following the open house, residents of the current Napoleon Care Center, which is a 44-bed skilled and basic care facility, will be transitioned to the new facility, along with those living in the current assisted living apartments.
