PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
Chair Steele convened the meeting at 4:12 p.m.
Todd Langston from Otter Tail Power Company presented the plans for a new transmission line from Ellendale to Jamestown, North Dakota.
Heinrich moved to recommend the City Council approve the 2023 Civil Engineering, Planning and Surveying (CPS) Agreement to perform testing to monitor ground water, storm water, leachate and landfill gas to meet the landfill permits and storm water permits and authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement. Seconded by Kamlitz. City Engineer Dillman provided information. Unanimous aye vote. Carried.
Kamlitz moved to recommend the City Council approve the engineering agreement with Interstate Engineering for expansion of the inert landfill. Seconded by Buchanan. City Engineer Dillman provided information. Unanimous aye vote. Carried.
Darrell Hournbuckle, Senior Project Engineer from Interstate Engineering, led a discussion on the funding options for Water Treatment Lime Filter Press Project and also discussed the option of combining the Lime Filter Press Project and a recycle reuse project. Kamlitz moved to send to the September Public Works Committee for further discussion. Seconded by Heinrich. Unanimous aye vote. Carried.
Kamlitz moved to recommend the City Council approve the purchase price of $210,507 for the Solid Waste Department Roll-off truck, through Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing, which funds shall be paid in 2023 from the Equipment Replacement Fund. Seconded by Buchanan. Unanimous aye vote. Public Works Director Michel provided information. Carried.
Heinrich moved to recommend the City Council accept the quote from Scherbenske Inc. in the amount of $81,300 to repair the Cell C lagoon walls at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Seconded by Kamlitz. Public Works Director Michel provided information. Unanimous aye vote. Carried.
City Engineer Dillman reviewed the project updates.
Sanitation Foreman O’Neill provided an update.
Deputy Auditor Sveum provided an update on City job openings.
