The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team played in front of the home fans for the first time since August 25, but Hastings (Neb.) College spoiled the Jimmies’ return to Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium with a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Only four combined shots were taken in the first half as the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
- Noris Rombeck had UJ’s lone shot on target in the 13th minute.
- Ayo Makinde opened the scoring in the 48th minute for Hastings, taking a Lewis Bowes pass to make it a 1-0 lead for the visitors.
- Wade McWhorter brought the Jimmies level in the 62nd minute on an assist by Oscar Harris.
- Hastings got the tie-breaking and eventual game-winning goal by Sandro Rubio in the 76th minute.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- Charlie Clark had two saves in goal.
- Jacob Holtz and Sebastian Gunderson joined Rombeck and McWhorter with shots on goal.
FOR THE BRONCOS
- Pablo Arce-Salinas stopped three of the four shots he faced.
- Lewis Albert was credited with the assist on Rubio’s goal.

- Jamestown (1-6-2 overall, 0-2-1 GPAC) hosts Doane (Neb.) Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.
