Jamestown – The fourteenth-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team remained undefeated at Harold Newman Arena with a sweep of Doane (Neb.) University Friday evening. Set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 25-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Darienne Johnson‘s kill brought the Jimmies within 8-6 in the first set, then UJ rallied behind the serving of Tenley Buddenhagen.
  • Buddenhagen was at the line for seven straight points, and Jamestown opened up a 13-8 lead.
  • The Tigers would get as close as 17-13 before the Jimmies eventually closed out the set.
  • UJ started the second set on an 8-2 run but Doane scored nine of the next 13 points to get within 12-11.
  • Aleah ZieskeLogan Sherman, and Lexi Olson all had kills to help Jamestown build a 15-11 advantage.
  • Buddenhagen once again provided a spark at the service line after the Tigers rallied to make it a 17-15 game.
  • The Jimmies finished the set off by scoring the final eight points, including a pair of aces, to take a 2-0 match lead.
  • Rachel Schiele was at the service line for all eight points that helped turn a 6-4 Doane lead into a 12-6 Jamestown edge.
  • Back-to-back kills by Olson and Ava Mueller put UJ up by seven, and the Tigers got no closer than three points the rest of the way.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Zieske (11) and Johnson (10) each had double-digit kill totals.
  • Sherman hit .636 with seven kills and Johnson hit .571 for the match.
  • Lily Bertsch passed out 20 assists and added nine digs.
  • Ellie Holen led the defense with 19 digs and Olson finished with five total blocks.

FOR THE TIGERS

  • Frankie Curren-Graff had seven kills and Taylor Suka added six.
  • Camdyn Carpenter recorded 15 assists while Sophia Turek and Sophia McKinney both had nine digs.
