The 12th-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team defeated No. 9 College of Saint Mary (Neb.) in four sets Saturday evening at Harold Newman Arena. Set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown outhit CSM .319 to .049 in the first set.
  • After the Flames got within 8-7, Grace Hegerle started a run of four straight Jimmie points that made it 12-7 in favor of Jamestown.
  • UJ closed out the opening set with five of the final six points, including a kill by Darienne Johnson that clinched the win.
  • The Jimmies hit .429 in set two, with only one error and 16 kills.
  • A 5-0 run bookended by kills from Aleah Zieske put Jamestown ahead 16-10.
  • UJ led by no less than six points the rest of the way, taking the final three for a 2-0 match lead.
  • With the score tied at 6-6 in the third, the Flames won nine of the next 13 and Jamestown was unable to retake the lead as CSM forced a fourth set.
  • The Jimmies started the fourth set with an 11-3 lead and never looked back, keeping the Flames behind by at least six for the remainder of the match.

  • Azaria Green (11) and Kamryn Willman (10) combined for 21 of CSM’s 47 kills.
  • Lauren Anderson had 24 assists and Rachel Cushing had 24 digs.
