Barnes Cnty – On October 28th, 2023 at approximately 1:15 am, a 2005 Ford F150 was traveling westbound on I-94 near MM 301 in Barnes County, approximately 1 mile west of Oriska.

While westbound, the 50 YOA male driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle on the ice covered roadway. The Ford began a spin on the roadway and then entered the north ditch.

After entering the north ditch, the Ford rolled, coming to rest in the north ditch along the fence line. The Ford came to rest on its drivers side, facing north.

During the rollover crash, the 50 YOA male driver and 43 YOA female passenger were both ejected. Both came to rest in the north ditch.

The 50 YOA male driver was transported by the Barnes County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Valley City where he was pronounced deceased.

The 42 YOA female passenger was transported by the Barnes County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Valley City and then via Sanford Air Med to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. The passenger suffered serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The names of the parties involved will be released on October 29th.
