UJ – The 12th-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team lost for the first time at Harold Newman Arena this season, as No. 1 Northwestern (Iowa) College came away with a four set victory.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders opened with an 8-1 lead, but the Jimmies went on a 4-0 run to close the gap to 9-6.
- NWC eventually built a 19-11 advantage as Jamestown had only managed to put multiple-point runs together twice up to that point.
- An attack error by NWC started a 3-0 run for UJ, and six of the next seven points went to the Jimmies to make it 20-17.
- The Raiders kept at least a three-point lead until closing out the set 25-21.
- Jamestown led 16-11 after an ace by Aleah Zieske, only to have NWC tally eight points in a row to retake a 19-16 edge.
- The Jimmies went back in front 21-20 after Tenley Buddenhagen‘s ace, but the Raiders posted back-to-back points to keep the pressure on the home team.
- NWC went up 2-0 in the match after back-to-back kills sealed a 26-24 victory.
- Set three went back and forth with neither team leading by more than three until Zieske’s kill made it 13-10.
- The Raiders were able to get as close as 18-18, but Jamestown finished the set on a 7-2 run to force a fourth set.
- Logan Sherman and Lexi Olson each had kills to give the Jimmies a 7-4 edge early in the fourth, however the Raiders showed their resolve.
- A 4-0 run put the visitors back in the lead, then after UJ tied the score following an attack error, NWC won three in a row and essentially turned the momentum in their favor.
- Jamestown got within 21-18 after a kill by Darienne Johnson, but the Raiders finished the match by taking the final four points.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- Zieske posted 24 kills and 13 digs.
- Sherman finished with 11 kills and hit .375 for the match.
- Johnson hit a team-best .400 with seven kills.
- Paige Oswald (22 assists, 12 digs) and Lily Bertsch (22 assists, 11 digs) both had double-doubles.
- Ellie Holen tied a career-high with 47 digs, and Grace Hegerle had her second straight match with 20+ digs, finishing with 23.
- Olson had five total blocks.

- Jamestown ends the regular season on October 31 with a home match against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) at 7:30 p.m.
