JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Chamber) – As we enter peak shopping season, the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage you to think local first.

There are a lot of shopping opportunities in Jamestown and many local stores can help you find exactly what you’re looking for. While we encourage local shopping year-round, we are stressing its importance as we get closer to the end of the year.

November 25 is Small Business Saturday, a day many Chambers across the U.S. circle on their calendars. It reminds us of the prime shopping opportunities right in our own communities. Not only do the small businesses where we work, live, and play offer numerous gift-giving possibilities, they are hands-on and ready to complete your shopping list with quality, thoughtful gifts.

“Before you open up your internet browser to buy online, take a stroll through our community, find a shop you haven’t been in for a while, spend some dollars at a business you’ve never been to before,” says Emily Bivens, Executive Director. “Whatever you choose to do, please keep local at the forefront of your mind and help these local businesses continue to provide the great services they provide!”

As always, a great way to keep dollars local is by purchasing Chamber Bucks from the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce. These are a great gift idea for your co-workers, employees, or family members that will keep spending local and help our many Chamber Member businesses.

Another way you can keep your dollars local is participating in our Loyal to Local Holiday Passport program. In the past two years, this program has tracked more than $250,000 local to Jamestown.

“We look forward to another successful program that encourages shoppers to support their local stores first,” Bivens added.
