VALLEY CITY – Eleven different Vikings scored and six reached double figures Tuesday night as the VCSU men’s basketball team hit 100 points in a victory over Trinity Bible College.
VCSU scored an even 50 points in each half en route to a 100-62 win against the Lions.
The Vikings improve their record to 4-3 overall this season. VCSU is back in action Thursday with an exhibition game at the University of North Dakota.
VCSU shot 50 percent on Tuesday, going 41-for-82 from the floor. The Vikings were just 22 percent on 3’s (8-37) and 53 percent on free throws but helped fuel the offense with 19 offensive rebounds and 15 steals.
Eight different players had steals, led by three from Odier Olange, who also added 12 points and three assists. Caden Grinde filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high six assists. Hunter Lyman had a team-high 13 rebounds and seven assists.
Lamar Grayson led the balanced scoring attack with a team-high 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting. LaDarious Stanfield totaled 12 points on 6-for-9 shooting, and Cayden Rickard added 10 points. Cleveland Bedgood finished with 13 points and three assists.
The Vikings held Trinity Bible College to 37 percent shooting overall (23-63) and 26 percent from 3-point range (10-38). The Vikings forced 25 turnovers by the Lions. Valley City State held a 61-22 advantage in points in the paint, and a 35-14 advantage in points off turnovers.

In Valley City State women’s basketball senior Adriana Torres scored her 1,000th career point Tuesday in an 89-51 victory over Trinity Bible College.
Torres finished with 12 points as one of four Vikings to score in double figures in Tuesday’s win. The first basket of the second quarter marked her 1,000th point in the Viking uniform. VCSU improves to 3-2 overall this season.
The Vikings shot 49 percent in the first half of Tuesday’s game to pull away with a 51-24 lead at halftime. VCSU held the Lions to just seven points in the third quarter and built its largest lead of the game at 73-28 on a basket from Ellie Powell en route to the big home win.
Valley City State shot 41 percent from the field overall (35-86), 29 percent on 3-pointers (8-28) and 58 percent on free throws (11-19) Tuesday. Trinity Bible shot 35 percent on field goals (20-58), 25 percent from beyond the arc (2-8) and 69 percent from the free throw line (9-13).
Fifteen Vikings scored at least a point in Tuesday’s win, led by 13 points and four 3-pointers from freshman Mya Morris. Torres and Klaire Cotton each scored 12 points for VCSU and Ellie Powell added a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
VCSU held a 61-31 rebounding advantage including 33 offensive boards and scored 28 second chance points. The Vikings also tallied 50 points in the paint Tuesday.
The Vikings scored 32 points off 28 Trinity Bible turnovers Tuesday night. Powell tallied four steals in the game while Torres added three. VCSU tallied 21 assists as a team, paced by three apiece from freshmen Delaney Cotton and Ellie Braaten.
Trinity Bible’s had three players score in double figures Tuesday, led by Brenna Anderson who scored a game-high 15 points.
