The University of Jamestown Music Department announced a new format and date for its upcoming Christmas Concert titled The Gifts We Bring…. This year, the concert will be held on campus at the DeNault Auditorium in the Reiland Fine Arts Center on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. It will feature a variety of student ensembles.

In recent years, UJ’s Christmas concert has been held off campus, featuring only the Concert Choir. Chair of the Music Department Dr. Richard Walentine said this year’s change in format and location stemmed from a desire to tap back into the concert’s historical roots.

“When we looked back at the 70s and 80s, the concert was always held on campus,” said Dr. Walentine. “Bringing it back to UJ gives us the opportunity to make the concert more inclusive of our department, with multiple bands and choirs represented. We’re very excited to bring this concert to our community.”

Also making a comeback this year is the Handbell Choir.

“A group of 13 students has gathered and rehearsed weekly for this special performance,” said Dr. Walentine. “They will perform in the lobby, welcoming attendees to the concert and getting everyone in the Christmas spirit.”

Featured student choirs and ensembles include:

– Concert Choir

– Wind Ensemble

– Handbell Choir

– Chapel Choir

– Men’s Vocal Ensemble

– Woodwind Ensemble

– Brass Ensemble

– Percussion Ensemble
