On December 16 at approximately 9:45pm hours, Bismarck Police Officer Jakob Olheiser was
responding an unrelated incident in Bismarck. Olheiser entered the intersection of S 9th St
at Bismarck Expressway, northbound, while the traffic light was red. Olheiser’s emergency
lights were not activated prior to or at the time of the crash. A 2012 Chevy Equinox driven
by Leora Bauer of Bismarck was westbound on East Bismarck Expressway. Bauer had a
green light and was traveling in the left lane when she entered the intersection. Bauer’s
vehicle struck the patrol vehicle at approximately 40-mph. Both vehicles came to rest north
of the intersection.
