On January 2nd at 11:15am a Kenworth semi truck/flatbed trailer combination was stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway with hazard lights activated after experiencing a mechanical failure. The driver of the truck was not in the vehicle. At 11:15, the Nissan Sentra was southbound in the right lane of Interstate 29. The Sentra drove onto the shoulder and the front right corner of the car struck the rear left corner of the trailer.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The passenger, who
was in the front passenger seat, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Fargo Fire
Department before being transported to a local hospital for serious injuries sustained in the
crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol reminds
all motorists of the importance of driving distraction-free to focus on the roadway ahead.
