Grand Forks, N.D. – The UND men’s basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Betty Engelstad Sioux Arena on Thursday, with tip-off coming at 7 p.m. ORU won all three meetings last season and has won seven straight in the series. The most recent win for the Fighting Hawks came on January 8, 2021.

The Golden Eagles are led by first-year head coach Russell Springmann, who took over as head coach this summer after five years as an assistant coach. He has been an assistant coach at the University of Texas and has also been in the Oklahoma City Thunder organization.

The team is averaging 75.8 points per game, and allowing 74.8. From the floor ORU is shooting .451 and .376 from three-point range. Isaac McBride is leading the team with 19.8 points per game, and averaging over 38 minutes per game. Jailen Bradford averages 6.9 per game to lead the tea,, while Kareem Thompson leads the team with 27 steaks and 62 assists; while DeShang Weaver leads with 25 blocks.

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 176 games played.
